Workshops where students have led discussions on topics, they are passionate about, examples such as bullying, student safety or making learning more engaging.
Establish or enhanced student led groups (e.g. Student Representative councils etc.)that give students a formal platform to voice their opinions and participate in school decision-making processes (remember to include examples of positive changes made to the classroom or school community).
Implementation of systems for collecting and acting on student feedback, such as suggestion boxes, online surveys, or regular student / community programs (including examples of change).
Mental Health
Examples of initiatives/projects where students have been involved in the development of campaigns to raise awareness about mental health issues, reduce stigma, and promote available student support services.
Peer support programs where students can receive training to provide support to their peers.
Workshops on mindfulness, stress management, and other wellbeing practices co-designed by students and staff to help students manage their mental health (and examples of how this has been student led, or impacted students).
Student Safety
Initiatives/projects where students have been involved in or conducted safety audits with students including how potential safety concerns were identified and addressed to strengthen student safety (emotional and physical) at school.
Initiatives/projects where schools have worked with students to develop and implement anti-bullying programs that include student-led activities and awareness campaigns.
Initiatives/projects involving staff and student partnerships to address or promote safety initiatives in the school community e.g. Day for Daniel in collaboration with students.
Project/initiatives where staff have collaborated with students to expand extracurricular activities to include a wider range of interests, such as coding clubs, art workshops or STEM based activities.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Projects/initiatives where staff and students collaborate to organise events that celebrate the diverse cultures within the school community, such as multicultural days, food festivals, or cultural performances.
Initiatives where schools have partnered with students to review and revise the curriculum, ensuring it reflects diverse perspectives and promotes inclusivity.
Initiatives where students have played an active role in designing or facilitating training for staff and peers on diversity, equity, and inclusion—helping to foster a more inclusive and respectful school environment.
